2002, digital prints on corrugated cardboard, dimensions variable
The artist created this piece specifically for the Eukabuk Exhibition in Chiang Mai Thailand, 2002. Each piece is life-sized. The photographs were taken from television screens and blown up without enhancement to allow the pixilation from the TV monitor to become magnified. The result is a blurring of the figure without loss of the individual's identity.
When I showed these figures at the satellite opening in Chicago, they were accompanied by snippets of interviews with my friends on their knowledge of Asia and its people. The figures shown without the text have a more open-ended quality as art.
